A life shaped by faith, service, and a deep love for storytelling.

Brenda Thurmond is a proud native of North Georgia whose life reflects love, faith, and a joyful spirit that inspires everyone she meets. A devoted member of Clarkesville Baptist Church, Brenda spent over 45 years serving in the local school system before her retirement. Yet at 82, “retirement” is only a word—Brenda continues to live each day with energy, purpose, and passion.

A lifelong lover of words, Brenda has always had a special gift for writing. Over the years, she has poured her creativity into stories for children, Sunday school lessons, and cherished Christmas plays for her church. Her writing, filled with warmth and imagination, is a reflection of her heart for teaching, encouraging, and uplifting others.

She is an active member of the Baptist Women Association and a devoted Sunday school participant, finding joy in the everyday moments that shape her days—from time spent at the Clarkesville Library to embracing new routines like yoga and gathering with friends for monthly game nights. She shared 62 years of marriage with her husband, Ken, a partnership that shaped her life in countless ways, and she is the proud mother of her daughter, Karen Shayne. Even now, Brenda lives with purpose, caring for her 99-year-old sister and remaining closely connected to the people and community she holds dear, continuing to find meaning in both the quiet and meaningful moments of each day.

In addition to her upcoming books, Brenda shares her voice as a contributor to the Unconditionally Her magazine, a publication dedicated to celebrating women’s stories, lived experiences, and the meaningful moments that shape our lives. Through her writing, she offers reflections, recipes, and personal stories rooted in faith, family, and everyday life—work that is meant to be read slowly, shared easily, and returned to over time. This partnership has become a meaningful part of Brenda’s current chapter, offering a space to connect with new readers while gently introducing the stories behind her Christmas Series Trilogy. She is deeply grateful for the encouragement and support she has received from so many women in this community, whose shared stories and strength continue to inspire her as she steps into this next season of writing.
